With the relentlessly awful weather, it’s tempting to spend one’s weekends sitting in front of the TV. Here’s a few things in the local area which you can do instead.
Valentines Mansion. Obviously, the gardens are out, but the house is fab and there’s a nice tea room. They’ve also got an art gallery.
Secret Nuclear Bunker. The road sign for which has provided much internet hilarity over the years. It’s your chance to see a cold war era bunker without the inconvenience of an actual nuclear apocalypse.
Queen Elizabeth’s hunting lodge. Visit this lovely and peaceful museum for a glimpse into Tudor life. The Butlers Retreat restaurant is also very close.
Redbridge Drama Centre. One of the few drama services still funded by the local council. Lend your support by going to watch some of their productions. See also East 15 Acting School’s list of upcoming performances.
Essex Vintage Fashion Fair. Love vintage? This is the event for you. It’s not till September but there’s also TrulyMadlyVintage to keep you going in the meantime.
